“Warage” Kickstarter reached its €15,000 funding goal in its first day!

…thanks to the backers and the support of pro-players as Magic Hall of Famer Raphael Lévy!

“District Games announces a new agreement for the international distribution of Warage Card Game, signed with ACD BlackFire Enterteinment, main distributor in Europe of several successful card games – among which Magic: The Gathering. Few weeks from now a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter will anticipate the international release of the game, that will include 12 mini-expansions along the first year, on top of a ready-to-play starter set already released by District Games in 2014. The campaign will allow backers from all over the world to have early access to two Kickstarter Exclusive expansions and all the expansions (i.e. Season Chapters) that will be unlocked as soon as the stretch goals will be reached.

More than 1,000 cards were already created and released in Italy from 2013 through several expansions that will now be translated in English – split in 55-card Chapters to be released at the beginning of each new season.
Pietro Puglisi, District Games: “The mix of deckbuilding, speed and roleplay flavor make Warage a unique product in the card game world. We believe that after the huge work done in Italy by the development team, the incredible 40+ artists that illustrated the game and all of those who supported the growth of the game, the time has come to give this title an international shot – with an year-long release plan already in place.”

More than 3,000 players enjoyed Warage in Italy so far. It’s setting and background universe was endlessly expanded through the books published in these years in Italy (“The Peak of the Angels” and “The March of the Deads”) – to be translated in English too, soon – and through the release of a Savage Worlds setting
manual, published in 2014.
In 2014 District Games already succesfully run a Kickstarter campaign to fund the starter set pilot lunch in English language, reaching the funding goal in 48 hours with more than 350 backers pledging $15k in total from all over the world.

The Kickstarter campaign of Warage card was launched on Monday 27th June at 11:30am EST (6:30pm CET) and is already raising more than €10,000 in only 5 hours.

“Our team worked thoroughly to build a great page able to make our message pass to the visitors” – said Pietro Puglisi, co-founder of District Games – “Warage is a unique mix of deck construction and roleplay flavor, with amazing artwork and tons of cards, we are sure that all the backers will love it!”.
Among the early supporters there is a list of well known pro-players and game reviewer. Here below a list of the most interesting reviews received so far:

– “I’m still in the process of learning the game and the more I play, the more I discover the little things that make a card game great. The friend I’m playing the game with keeps asking me when the next game is! :)” – Raphaël Lévy – Magic Pro Tour Hall of Famer

– “Warage has balls. I admire the fact that it dares to be something a bit different in an overcrowded genre, and that it dares to make the differentiation the lowest common denominator of being simple and stupid, trashy and thematic” – Matt Thrower, NoHighScores

– “A clean and solid mechanic with great illustrations – Score: 4 on 5” – BalenaLudens.it

– “Warage has an immense volume of cards. For players (like myself) that really enjoy deck-sculpting there is a lot of meat here. I can imagine playing this game at lunch with co-workers, where each of us keeps a pre-constructed battle deck with us. The game plays briskly and is highly competitive, but will reward careful deck construction” – Jon Beall on BoardGameGeek

– “The concept of weakening yourself to play cards – This is neat and I haven’t seen it before. It really makes you think about what cards you need/want to play, and it limits you from simply dumping your whole hand out onto the table.” – Mark Jackson, opinionated gamers.
