“It is 64 AD in the days following the Great Fire of Rome. It’s now up to one to four players to restore the great city to its former glory as they roll, draw, and conquer.
Launching on Kickstarter today from PSC Games, Rome and Roll is a 60 – 90 minute strategic roll and write game. From the designers of Anachrony, Dice Settlers, Welcome to DinoWorld, and Days of Ire, players draft from a pool of custom dice to collect resources, construct buildings, and raise legions. Political alliances, the colonies, and even the Gods all have a part to play as players rebuild Rome and vanquish their foes.
“Rome and Roll was a unique chance to explore the toolset of roll and writes in the mindset of a highly interactive economic euro, but with just the right amount of brain burn,” says designer Dávid Turczi.
The game also includes a solo mode in which you play against Nero’s advisor Seneca. This mode is crafted by Nick Shaw, who Turczi has labelled the “most connected man in solo gaming.”
Players take on one of four asymmetric character classes, ranging from merchants to military leaders, with a wealth of different strategies to deploy and scoring avenues to take advantage of. Gameplay involves dice drafting as players draw their buildings onto the Seven Hills of Rome.”
