Secret Unknown Stuff: Escape from Dulce – on Kickstarter since April 15th 2017
“Welcome to the bizarre and top secret world of ‘Escape from Dulce’, Sentient Cow Games first installment in our themed anthology board game series called “Secret Unknown Stuff”, where the players are taken through science fiction adventures, supernatural stories and unexplained events. ‘Escape from Dulce’ is a collaborative, turn-based, sci-fi adventure game for 2 to 6 players, ages 14 and up. Players choose from 8 hilariously bizarre prisoners, including a two-headed mutant cow that can strap machine guns on its back, to an alien hybrid super solider who dreams of being a normal teenager and hanging out at the mall. Each player starts with special abilities and different stats, which they can level up as they try to escape the base. ‘Escape from Dulce’ will be different each time it’s played, because of how the player decides to customize their character, interact with the encounter cards, and how our ‘artificial intelligence’ combat system dictates how the enemies will focus their attacks. Story based encounter cards add an organic ‘role-play’ feel to game play, forcing the players to adapt to an ever-changing base full of traps and self-strategizing human and non-human enemies. The game thinks. It’s alive. And it’s trying to kill you. Players must find hidden objectives to gain entry to the next level, while constantly working to keep the alarm from reaching critical and releasing the dreaded ‘Man in Black.’ The alarm building aspect creates a sense of urgency and drive to the game. Players can also enlist the help of strange ‘hidden characters’ along the way, as they progress up seven dangerous levels of a 3D game board to freedom. In addition to playing the full campaign game we will have multiple shorter scenarios that can be played. The 3D board allows for different configurations based on a variety of individual scenarios.”
Kickstarter:
Our goal is to launch the Kickstarter campaign with a project that is 100% complete and ready to go into production once the goal is met (just push the shiny red “start the presses” button). As of mid-March we are about 90% complete. We have been working with Panda Game Manufacturing to produce our first run and are fine tuning our shipping and fulfillment strategy to be as world friendly as possible. The incredibly talented Raul Tavares will be sculpting our 3D minis. Playtesting is on going so we can have game play and the rules fine-tuned and finished by launch. There is always the unknown but we want this project to be as fun and painless for our backers as is humanly possible (also alienly or bovinely possible).
About the World of Escape from Dulce:
Everyone has heard of Area 51 and the Roswell incident, but very few have heard of Dulce Base. Many believe it to be a joint military/alien underground facility where horrible experiments have been conducted on abducted humans and various life forms held captive there, but according to satellite imagery there is no such place located 4-5km from city of Dulce, NM. Or so they would like us to believe. Game play has a 50’s pulp serial feel mixed with the absurdity of the old Weekly World News tabloid. We want you to laugh a little while fighting your way through the terror that is Dulce Base.

While Secret Unknown Stuff is our first venture it is far from our only idea. To invent a time machine, build it, and use it to look at our pasts would be to see that we were raised by games of all kinds. From building forts and play fighting with sticks in the backyard, D&D and Adventure on the Atari, to Zombicide, Settlers of Catan, Fallout series, among many more, games are a part of our lives. Games have not just been an undercurrent but the main current. Our goal is to make great games that you will hopefully love as much as we do! Sentient Cow Games is based in Los Angeles, CA and was born from three friends love of games and built on the belief that with passion and hard work any dream is possible to achieve.
