Press release upcoming kickstarter ‘Clash d’Ardèche’
“A dream comes true: your own camping ground in the French highlands. And all goes well! A small plot of land, a reception and a website is all you need to receive some income in the next season. Satisfied you take a rest – but not for long, as your guests already leave for greener pastures! They prefer your competitor’s camping ground: the ‘Clash d’Ardèche’ has begun.
The above is not a dream – it is a boardgame. A boardgame that puts you in the position of a campingboss, running a camping ground along the river Ardèche.
Game designer Jan Willem van Dijk: ‘The two core game mechanics are the price-quality steps and the bribe cards. The price-quality steps determine to which camping ground guests want to go. Influence those guests by building starbuildings on your camping ground and by charging them higher or lower prices. Because you don’t know the price set by your competitors, this is the time when you have to bluff your way to the desired outcome.
The bribe cards are a combination of worker placement, card drafting and set collection-mechanics. Different combinations of cigars, jewellery and wine get you powerful favors from the mayor!
In the expert version another mechanic is added: the gameboard becomes a strategic puzzle as your guests want to camp nearby your sanitary, swimming pool or restaurant. Luckily you can let them use your neighbours’ facilities!’
